Holy Cross Library
Holy Cross Episcopal School Library opens at 7:35 daily during the school year, from 3:00-3:15 after school. Please see our calendar for our summer library hours. Our collection consists of more than 9,500 holdings including books, periodicals, and reference materials.
Computers are available for students to use for research, AR testing and to search the library catalog. While anyone can browse our online catalog, currently enrolled students may login and use additional resources such as WebPath Express, a service which leads them to safe, accurate, age-appropriate websites. They can also create resource lists and write book reviews. Our school also offers Accelerated Reader, a reading program which tests a student’s comprehension of the library books they read. We use the online version of Accelerated Reader, which gives parents immediate access to their child’s AR progress. Test availability and book levels can be checked at http://www.arbookfind.com/UserType.aspx .
One thing that makes our library special is the growing collection of books that have been donated in honor or memory of someone. Books donated to honor a student’s birthday are known as “Birthday Books”. Students who receive a Birthday Book may select the book themselves and be the first one to check it out from our library. A bookplate is placed in the book to commemorate the occasion.
IN HONOR, IN MEMORIAM BOOKS
Books may also be donated in honor or memory of someone special, students or adults. A bookplate is also placed in the front of an honor or memory book to serve as a reminder of that person.
Donating a book is simple. Just print the appropriate form below and follow the directions to submit it to the school.
