Our Lenten Outreach project for 2011 – 2012 has begun here at Holy Cross and will continue for the next several weeks. This year’s focus is the Reality and Truth Ministry which serves the homeless of Montgomery.
The following items will be collected to help this wonderful local ministry:
Feb. 27 – March 2 Travel/Hotel size toiletries including shampoo, small toothpaste, soap, toothbrushes, disposable razors, deodorant, and lotion
These items will be used to provide bags of personal items for use by the men and women who use the available facilities.
March 5-9 New wash cloths, towels, and men’s socks
March 12 – 16 Coffee, creamer, teabags, sugar
These items will help the coffee house for the homeless which is run by the ministry.
March 19-23 Toilet paper, miniature flashlights, hand sanitizer
Outreach is an integral part of the Holy Cross Education. Students of all ages are encouraged to participate in school-wide outreach projects which are geared towards child participation.

Donations for the Montgomery Humane Shelter collected from students in honor of the Blessing of the Animals
Outreach Coordinator Marcia Bazzell has several year-round collections as well, including pop-tops for the Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham. During the 2010-2011 school year, Holy Cross families collected over 50 gallons of pop-tops which were delivered during the summer. This year’s goal is 75 gallons!
